Weekly Blog posts – Teacher posts a current news article, commentary or a video to solicit student responses will be real time and shared with the entire class. Peers not only reflect on each other’s comments and analysis but also learn through peer review. These blogs can also be posted in a physical space to allow peers (outside of their online community) to view students’ analysis (of the current article) and comments.
Twitter – Creating a class Twitter account that kids can check daily and add to. This enables them to create their own PLN network, connect with other learners and pursue learning goals with a larger audience. Kids become connected and empowered learners. As part of their learning, expect children to follow one account that promotes learning in their area of interest and share with the class. This will teach kids to understand hashtag handles, re-tweeting and information sharing, as part of their PLN. Students will use their ipads to capture images and create hash tags that can be used for specific purposes.
